Who's Cold for Week 3Who's going to do poorly this weekend? Here are my top five likely busts for the three main skilled positions for week 2.
*Lists do not include players not worth starting Quarterback –1) Matt Leinart – He’s been making some mistakes and hasn’t been connecting often enough with Fitzgerald and Boldin. If he doesn’t have his A game on the road against the Raven’s defense, it might be a long day for him. 2) Phillip Rivers – Wake up Phillip, the season has started. I thought that wide receivers were supposed to be the ones that go though the sophomore slump. San Diego on the road against a good Green Bay team and they’ll probably have to ride on LT’s back. 3) Marc Bulger – He’s had a very sub par first two games, so he better get his act together quickly without Orlando Pace or else they are stating down an 0-4 start. 4) David Garrard – Jacksonville confuses me right now. They should have a very talented offense. “Should” being the operative word here. He is playing a Denver team on the road with quite possibly the best tandem of cornerbacks in the league. 5) Derek Anderson – I’m going to go out onto a limb and say that he will not come close to duplicating his efforts of last week. Oakland needs this game badly after two close losses and the one thing that they have that Cincy apparently lacks is a good defense. Derek Anderson was lightning in a bottle for a game. Don’t expect that game to be the norm.
Running Back -1) Marion Barber III – Tough matchup against Chicago, who hasn’t allowed two premier running backs to get loose on them. If Dallas is going to pull this one out against the Bears, its going to have to be Romo that does it. 2) Maurice Jones-Drew – 18 carries through two games … what are the Jags thinking? 3) Larry Johnson – Going to have a hard time breaking out if the passing game is non-existent, especially against Minnesota. 4) DeShaun Foster – Atlanta’s defense is underrated, giving up 13 points to the Jags and 10 to the Vikings. DeShaun is inconsistent from game to game and what’s worse, he splits carries with at least one other back. 5) Chris Brown – Still not buying Chris Brown being legitimate starting fantasy football material. If he doesn’t do well against the Saints, I would stay away from him all together. He might have another big game or two, but LenDale and Young take control near the goal line.
1) Lee Evans – J.P. Losman is the Bills starting quarterback. 2) Reggie Brown – He has had two very bad games. If he doesn’t show up against the Lions, he’s not worth starting for the time being, even if he’s a number one wide receiver. 3) Larry Fitzgerald – Going to have a tough time with McAllister on him. 4) Isaac Bruce – Had a big game last week, but I don’t think there will be a repeat this week for him. 5) Santonio Holmes – Willie Parker and Hines Ward will probably get most of the offense in this game.
We’ll see if any of these players prove me wrong and I’ll be right back here to discuss where I was wrong … next week after the Monday night games.
